Highland Clearances

We’re currently working with Professor Marjory Harper, Chair in History at the University of Aberdeen, to apply for funding to create a touring theatre show and exhibition inspired by the neglected history of Scotland’s unprecedented diaspora in the 1920s.

Professor Harper’s research is primarily in the area of Scottish emigration in the nineteenth and twentieth centuries, particularly to Canada. Both the play and the exhibition will explore the human stories behind the Scottish Emigration Database, bringing the facts and figures to life, and making these histories accessible and relevant to the world today.

If funding is successful the production and exhibition will tour Scotland in autumn 2017.
